Julius Caesar

1991

Pre-show newsreels, archival footage and re-enactments on laserdisc mixed with live camera feeds for theatrical installation, in the production of "Julius Caesar" directed by Oskar Eustis, Mark Taper Forum, L.A., California.
The play was couched in the politics of the 60s, referencing the Kennedy assassinations mixed with re-enacted scenes of the Rodney King beating and the surveillance scene from "The Conversation."

" I was convinced that it was a political play, and in essence, it was a play about political power and about political speech, forms of political action."
-- Oskar Eustis
